While the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is generally accepted nationwide, several states and specific local jurisdictions do not accept 100% virtual/online training or testing, requiring in-person components instead. - Idaho
- Iowa
- Nebraska
- Wyoming (Teton County may have exceptions, but generally restricted)
Specific Counties/Local Restrictions
- Alabama: Baldwin County
- Arizona: Cochise County and Pima County
- Missouri: St. Charles County
- Virginia: Arlington County
It is the customer’s responsibility to check with their department of health to ensure that the certification class they are signed up for meets their Department of Health Regulations .
